Tekes in Tidewater is the akhal-teke division of Transitions at Lakeview, Inc., tucked into a 45-acre working farm in Windsor, Virginia. We offer training and limited boarding with a regulation dressage ring, covered arena, hunter jumping course, 2-mile hacking track, and miles of wooded trails. These varied work spaces give our horses exposure to different experiences, which will make them more well-rounded riding horses.
Joanne Hodeen is the owner and manager. She has had over 40 years of experience with boarding and training horses. She has worked with several top trainers in the country before settling down in the tidewater area, dealing primarily with thoroughbreds and warmbloods. Seeing a picture of an akhal-teke on the internet, she bought a gelding and fell in love with his intelligence and movement. Two broodmares came shortly after, and the breeding program was off and running! We hope to have foals available for sale in the spring of 2015. Our goal is to produce quality competition sporthorses.
